Ah. Ummm, they are creatures from this world, and there are hundreds of different pokemon species. Some of them are small and some of them are big, they can look almost like anything, and they all come with an elemental type. Their types are electric, fire, water, rock, psychic, fighting, bug, dragon, dark, flying, ghost, grass, ground, normal, poison and steel and ice. And then there are dual types which can be almost any combination of those... Ummm, I guess all of this is a lot of information to take in at once.

Yours is a rock/ground-type pokemon, sir.

[ He pokes at the Geodude with his foot. It doesn't move for a moment, so he nudges a bit harder.

It reaches out with an arm to swat his foot away. ]

Ah, ummm... Some people are supposed to train them, they're called trainers.

You'll meet wild pokemon and other people with pokemon on the routes, make your pokemon battle against them and your pokemon grows stronger as it gains more levels from every winned battle.

Ah, I think it's a theory that this world is based on some kind of a video game.

Ah, actually -- you can defeat the gym leaders in many cities and then try to defeat the Elite Four, but you won't get home even if you do. No one knows how we got here, no one knows how to get back home either. Though sometimes people just disappear from this world and go back home.

Yeah, just like that. No last words, or knowing when they'll do, or anything. Maybe they won't disappear right in front of your eyes, but you leave them alone for five minutes and they're gone. Or this device tells you that the number is out of reach, or doesn't exist anymore if it's someone who's somewhere else.
